To make a sweet apple pie, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 4 cups of thinly sliced apples (use a mix of sweet and tart varieties for the best flavor)
  • 3/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon of allspice
  • 2 tablespoons of butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 recipe for a double crust pie crust (either store-bought or homemade)

To begin, preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Next, mix together the sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice in a small bowl. In a separate bowl, toss the sliced apples with the sugar mixture until they are evenly coated.

Roll out one of the pie crusts and place it in the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish. Pour the apple mixture into the pie dish and dot the top with the butter. Roll out the second pie crust and place it on top of the filling. Crimp the edges together to seal the pie and cut a few slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
