Slow Cooked Pork Ribs in Oven

Pork Ribs Slow Cooked

There is a reason people slow cook ribs (and other meat), it just tastes great! Following this simple recipe, you can try it too. Only necessary requirement is a functioning oven and fresh ribs. Also time. It takes around 7 hours to prepare them and another hour to prepare the sauce and everything around the kitchen.

If possible use the largest oven pan that can fit and get the meat fresh. Although this will also work with frozen ribs, the taste is drastically different.

Instructions

Depending on the amount of ribs you can fit in the oven pan, the sauce preparation can vary. Those are the numbers needed to prepare the sauce for around 5.5 to 6 pounds of ribs.

Get a mid sized pot and pour in the sauces:

  • BBQ Sauce 10 Oz (around 300ml)
  • 1.5 to 1.7 Oz Apple cider vinegar (around 50ml)
  • Worcestershire and Chilly sauce depending on how spicy you want it to be, around 1 Oz each (30ml)
  • Salt and Pepper

Mix it all together and put the pot on the stove. Mix until it boils.

Preparing the meat

First of all pre-heat the oven on 230F (or 110c) with bottom and top heaters set to on.

lay the ribs down and make a tiny cuts from top to bottom, no deeper than 1 inch (around 2 cm), this will allow the ribs to soak up the sauce easily. Season with salt and pepper then pour the boiling sauce directly on the meat. Finally cover the pan with aluminum foil, this will prevent the air from escaping, reducing the amount of sauce evaporating.

Put the pan in the oven and wait 7 to 8 hours. After waiting patiently, the ribs are done, take them out and pour the remaining sauce back in the pot. Put the pot back on the stove and let it boil until it reduces its size for about half. Finally let it cool down and pour it back on the ribs. Enjoy!
